Talking Tax: next steps for tax policy in Scotland

Hi all,

Just wanted to draw your attention to an event which may be of interest. This session brings together Tom Arthur MSP, Charlotte Barber, Director of Tax at ICAS, and Gemma Tetlow, Chief Economist at the Institute for Governance, to discuss the future of tax in Scotland. Details and sign-up link are below.

Tuesday 31 August 2021

10:00 am - 11:30 am

Let’s talk about tax. As we continue to recover from the pandemic, we need to continue the conversation about tax policy and how we use our devolved tax powers to meet the challenges of today and tomorrow.

The Scottish Government will be launching a Framework for Tax, as part of work to embed a more strategic approach to tax policy making. This event will provide a timely opportunity to consider the current context within which that Framework will sit, and to look forward across the new Scottish Parliamentary session.

To mark the launch of the draft Scottish Government Framework, we will be hosting an interactive webinar with Tom Arthur MSP, alongside tax and economy experts Charlotte Barbour and Gemma Tetlow, to discuss what policy makers today can learn from the past when it comes setting tax policy, and how we make better tax policy in the future.

Viewers will be able to submit questions to the panel before and during the event.
