Scotland's Climate Week event | How Open Government can be a mechanism for action

Hi everyone,

As part of Scotland’s Climate Week 2022, the Open Government team are running a free, online event this Monday (26th September, 2pm - 3pm BST) titled ‘How Open Government can be a mechanism for action’ :earth_americas: :facepunch:

We are thrilled to be joined by speakers from the Open Government Partnership, the City of Buenos Aires and the World Resources Institute, as well as our own Head of Open Government at Scottish Government, to discuss where open government interventions can challenge the status quo and bring decision-making closer to people to support a fair and thriving net zero nation. The panel bring a wealth of experience and come from a variety of fields, backgrounds, and international contexts. During the event they will consider the following questions, alongside drawing from questions in the audience:

  1. What can applying Open Government principles of transparency, accountability and public involvement do to support meaningful climate action? Where have you seen examples of this?

  2. How can Open Government support meeting climate change targets set by governments?

  3. What is the value of public contribution and participation in delivering climate action?

  4. What are the practical steps to involve the public in delivering Climate Action, and how can Open Government support this?
