The OpenDataNI Team (within the Department of Finance) is responsible for the development and implementation of the Open Data Strategy for Northern Ireland. The Strategy outlines the NI public sector approach to the publication of open data, seeking to drive efficiencies in the public sector, to stimulate economic growth through the innovative use of open data and to support the transparency & accountability goals of open government.
The existing Open Data Strategy for Northern Ireland was intended to run for the period 2015 to 2018, during which time a key goal was the establishment of a Northern Ireland public sector open data portal, OpenDataNI. As we reach the end of this Strategy’s coverage, OpenDataNI are consulting to gather evidence and opinions on what a refreshed Strategy should focus on.
