Connecting the UK Democracy Sector

Hello,

We are a group of individuals and organisations working on improving democracy in the UK. Open Government Network, we are reaching out to you because we recognise you as a key organisation working towards the same goal.

The sector is much larger than most assume - our research discovered more than 700 organisations - but it’s extraordinarily fragmented. Most organisations are unaware of research, funding, talent or access that they need even though it is available, and this is disproportionately holding back the sector.

If we want things to change, we need to start talking to each other more. We are running an experiment between now and the upcoming election, and we’d like you to take part. We need you to do three things:

  1. Weekly 30-minute meetup: add a repeating event to your calendar
Every Thursday at 2pm, we’ll host a quick weekly call where we share our news, plans, and updates.

  2. Email discussion list: subscribe
A moderated discussion list, with a concise weekly bulletin aggregating all the activity from across the sector.

  3. Democracy Handbook: read & contribute( democracyhandbook dot org dot uk )
A co-created online digital resource. If your organisation offers data, funding, jobs, guides, or any other resources, please add them.

The first meetup is tomorrow Thursday, 4 March at 2pm. We hope to see you there.
