Today the Publish What You Pay Global Council and all civil society members of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) international board have issued an urgent joint statement responding to the denial of civil society participation rights in Iraq and to intimidation of and attacks on civil society organisations in Kazakhstan, Honduras and other countries where natural resource governance issues are contested. Please read our joint statement –

We call on the international community, including the EITI, governments, intergovernmental organisations and international donors, to pay close attention to the state of civic space, particularly in resource-rich countries, and to ensure civil society concerns are heard and responded to.

Please circulate widely, tweet, promote and add your voice to our call for duty bearers to act.

Thank you.
