Overview
Join Scotland’s Sustainable Development Goals Network (hosted by SCVO), Glasgow Caledonian University and the Scottish Government to hear an update on the UK and Scottish Government’s plans to submit a Voluntary National Review on SDG progress to the UN in July 2019 and play your part in shaping the engagement process and content.
Overall aim
In this session, we’ll hear from civil servants from both the UK and Scottish Governments on their plans to submit a Voluntary National Review on the progress that Scotland and the rest of the UK are making in progressing the UN Sustainable Development Goals. We will consider where Scotland’s SDG Network should focus its efforts and engagement in the months ahead as we look to inform and secure a comprehensive review of the current situation in the UK and Scotland.
Description
The UK has committed to share progress on implementing the Sustainable Development Goals at the UN High Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development in July 2019. This provides civil society and other stakeholders in Scotland with an opportunity to not only feed into this review but also shape the process. Scotland was one of the first countries in the world to sign up to the SDGs back in 2015, a global agenda that seeks to end poverty, tackle inequalities and combat climate change by 2030.
Who is this event aimed at?
The event is aimed at anyone with an interest in progressing the Sustainable Development Goals in Scotland to secure an end to poverty, inequality and tackle climate change by 2030. You do not need to be a member of the Network, but you can join here.
