Hi everyone

Sharing the below as this will be of interest to the Network 💬

Last year, [The Citizen Participation and Public Petitions Committee](https://www.parliament.scot/chamber-and-committees/committees/current-and-previous-committees/session-6-citizen-participation-and-public-petitions-committee) commissioned a Citizens’ Panel to support the Committee’s inquiry into public participation. The Citizens’ Panel, made up of 19 randomly selected individuals, was asked to develop recommendations in response to the following question:

> _How can the Scottish Parliament ensure that diverse voices and communities from all parts of Scotland influence our work?_

The panel engaged with a range of expert witnesses to help them to consider the evidence and ideas that were relevant to answering the question. The participants used facilitated discussions, video conferencing and an online platform to deliberate over these issues and form their recommendations.

The Panel made [17 recommendations](https://engage.parliament.scot/community/8795) to the Citizen Participation and Public Petitions Committee and these are detailed in full in this [report](https://digitalpublications.parliament.scot/Committees/Report/CPPP/2022/12/16/741396a1-57a0-4a7b-aa80-390adf7f287a-2#3cb67b9a-b392-4f37-b23d-8cf2e9c96709.dita)

Recommendations from the panel include:

- [improving community engagement](https://engage.parliament.scot/group/27082)

- [how the Parliament uses deliberative democracy](https://engage.parliament.scot/group/27084)

- [public involvement in Parliamentary business](https://engage.parliament.scot/group/27101) and;

- the way [Parliament communicates and educates the public on its work](https://engage.parliament.scot/group/27103).

The Citizen Participation and Public Petitions Committee have been looking for views on these recommendations, specifically around **what recommendations Parliament should prioritise.**

[Here is a short video showing the Convenor of the committee, Jackson Carlaw MSP, providing a summary of the consultation underway 📽](https://yrpri-production-video-public.s3.amazonaws.com/tajs8lo_video2852.mp4)
